· 1 in 3 children said they don’t want to speak up in class because they feel bad about the way they look.
· 3 out of 4 children and teenagers say the thing they are most afraid of at school is teasing and bullying about their appearance.
· 1 in 5 of all 15 year-olds claimed to truant because fear of bullying about their appearance.
· Kids don’t just want bullying to stop – they want to be popular too and that changes how you deal with bullying!
· Nearly half of children say that they feel very uncomfortable around people who look or act differently from them.
· Kids want to know how to sort bullying out for themselves rather than always relying on adults.
· Kids say they need a range of strategies to cope, so that they have choices.
· After children learned the ten strategies features in Dr Emily Lovegrove’s book, they said that bullying in school was reduced by two thirds, from 59% feeling bullied to only 21%
